Rowan Robinson Park has been named the BEST in NSW!

Rowan Robinson Park, in Kingscliff, has been crowned 'Park of the Year 2019' at the Annual Parks and Leisure Australia Awards of Excellence for both New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory, which was held at the Canberra Arboretum earlier this month. This park will now go on to represent NSW and ACT at the National Park of the Year Awards in Perth at the end of October.

The name behind the park is in honour of Rowan Robinson, a popular Kingscliff High School student and local Surf Life Saver who lost his life serving in Afghanistan in June 2011. The idea to name the park in his memory was put forward by a number of people within the Kingscliff community.

Landscape Architect Ian Bentley led the design of the park for the Tweed Shire Council, "Before Rowan Robinson Park there wasn't a place in Kingscliff for large gatherings, a place to watch bands, to accommodate 30 kids at a birthday party or a place to just hang out and watch others pass by. With its completion, the community now have that heart, central location that connects coffee shops and beach users, walkers and birthday party goers."

This park was part of the $22 million Kingscliff Foreshore Revitalisation Project, which was completed in late March 2018. Our Tweed Holiday Parks Kingscliff Beach was also a big part of this project and underwent an extensive 14-month redevelopment.

The project saw our park undergo a complete transformation into a modern, high-quality accommodation provider with high customer service standards to match. Our park is now equipped with accessible facilities, a spacious and modern camp kitchen, barbecue areas, amenities blocks and plenty of green space for kids to play.

Together with interior design gurus, Tailored Space Interiors (who were the brains and inspiration behind our popular Ocean Cabins), based the cabins on the local coastal surroundings and now boast a chic and modern look that complements the natural feel of Tweed Coast Holiday Parks. The recurring use of natural textures, crisp whites, timber accents, and nautical accessories throughout the cabins creates a relaxed seaside ambiance. Each cabin has comfy beds, a fully equipped kitchen, an open plan living, and dining area as well as a spacious outdoor area with breathtaking views of Kingscliff Beach.

Since opening, Rowan Robinson has become the main gathering area for large events such as music concerts, Anzac Day parades and major Surf Life Saving events and it is the perfect place for a pitstop! There are lots of places to sit and relax under the pandanus palms, kick back in the sun loungers, have a picnic at the picnic benches or hang out on the shoreline and take in the breathtaking views of Kingscliff Beach.

There are semi hoop bicycle parking available for you to lock up your bicycle, Our Kingscliff Beach park is located right next door and as a bonus, there are bikes available for hire, why not hire one and cycle along Kingscliff Foreshore and have a picnic in this stunning park!
