Sustainability Overview – Including Tweed Shire Council Policy Alignment Tweed Holiday Parks demonstrates a strong commitment to environmental sustainability, aligning its operations not only with visitor expectations but also with Tweed Shire Council’s strategic direction on sustainability, climate resilience, and emissions reduction. The parks’ initiatives directly support Council’s long term goals outlined in key policy and strategy frameworks such as the Conservation Plan, Climate Change Management Policy, Towards Zero Waste Strategy and Action Plan and Sustainable Procurement Policy.

1. Recycling and Waste Reduction

  • Active promotion of recycling across all parks.

  • Responsible waste management to reduce landfill impact.

  • Supports Council’s strategic focus on circular economy principles and reducing waste-to-landfill across the region.

2. Energy Efficient Operations

Our Sustainability Pledge

Tweed Holiday Parks is committed to environmental sustainability and preserving and protecting our communities and the environment including recycling, reducing energy consumption and protecting wildlife.  

Our environmental commitment extends to our local community and the local economy. We employ a local workforce and use local tradespeople and other suppliers where possible.
We promote local products, services, and attractions to all visitors to our 7 parks as well as on our website and other digital channels. We regularly provide sponsorship and accommodation prizes to local events. We are dedicated to attracting visitors to The Tweed and have and will continue to invest in enhancing the visitor experience with local community projects.

Our ‘sustainability pledge’ is communicated to all staff members and park visitors and we actively encourage sustainable behaviour at home as well as in the parks.

 

We pledge to:

  • Reduce our water consumption by 20%.
  • Reduce our power consumption by 20%.
  • Transition to renewable energy options where possible.
  • Reduce our landfill waste by 20%.
  • Protect the natural biodiversity in our parks by planting native species.
  • Protect the wildlife in our parks by informing all visitors of ‘care’ zones.
